Bangladesh makes important advances in safety, international relationships, and culture

safety

In South Asia, culture is always being developed. Bangladesh started many initiatives to improve the country’s cultural environment. Nothing is more enriching than fostering ties with other nations, especially if they have different geographical conditions and cultural backgrounds.

When this is implemented hand in hand with local initiatives, we have ourselves a country that’s development driven. Also, the gas authority of the capital has been implementing improvements to assure the safety of their habitants.

Titas Gas puts safety first

This Wednesday, the gas authority of Dacca announced the suspension of the gas supply for approximately 8 hours. Areas like Bardem, Habibullah Road, Iskaton, and Mintu Road will be affected because the pipeline must be renovated.

The company who is responsible for delivering these services is called Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited. It was founded in 1964 after a gas field was discovered by the Titas River. Since then, the company has earned the trust of the Bangladeshi people. They announced that this suspension was made due to urgent needs.

International relationships with South America

The government is determined to enhance international relationships, and now they’re reaching out to countries in South America. Recently Bangladesh signed an agreement with Argentina to enhance trading activities, and investment flows between both nations.

The minister of foreign affairs of Argentina and the minister of commerce of Bangladesh, Santiago Andres Cafiero, and Tipu Munshi, have signed a memorandum of understanding to pursue this objective.

With this MoU, both Bangladeshi people and Argentinians will enjoy stronger relationships that go both ways. While Argentina is one of the main food producers in the world, Bangladesh is one of its main partners. The latter imports ingredients such as raw sugar, products like soybean oil, and several other commodities. Moreover, Argentina reopened its embassy in the Asian country.

It seems that the World Cup has shown the love and respect of Bangladesh people for Argentina, its habits, traditions, and most importantly, its football team. Only two months after the South American team won the football world championship, minister Santiago Cafiero was reestablishing the national embassy in Bangladesh.

There was a ceremony where guests have shown all their love for these champions. There were sweets and meals like alfajores, dulce de leche, and the famous “mate”.

Cafiero announced that this reopening was long due after the original one was shut down by the 1976 de facto government. The first Argentinian embassy in Bangladesh was founded by President Juan Domingo Peron, who recognized Bangladesh as a sister country.

After the ceremony, both ministers met at the diplomatic Academy and talked about different projects. The objective is to diversify bilateral trade and enhance commercial relationships. This includes not only the transfer of goods but also the management of natural disasters, humanitarian assistance, and space matters. Also, the ministers signed agreements about diplomatic passports and visa exemptions.

For many years now, the people of Bangladesh have had warm feelings for Argentinians, especially when it comes to sports.

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair was a success

Dacca was home to the Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2023, which went on during February.

Organizers and attendees were able to see:

  • 901 stalls
  • 489 organizations for the Suhrawardy Udyan
  • 112 organizations for the Bangsal Academy
  • 38 pavilions

This event is proof of the local enthusiasm for publications and books. Organized by the Bangla Academy, this fair attracted many visitors reaching a higher assistance rate than last year. Publishers and authors were a part of the book fair, and they have shown themselves pleased with the results. Luckily, they reached sales records which show a positive response from the people regarding local culture and literature.

This year’s theme was “Read a book and build a country: Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh,” which shows a clear intention to use creativity as a means to encourage development.

President Md Abdul Hamid made encouraging statements about the 2023 book fair, saying that this event is an important part of the country’s culture. He also said that this is the perfect occasion to pay tribute to the victims of Language Movement Day. This commemoration takes place each year on February 21st and honors those people who fought to keep the Bangla language and culture alive.

The organizers ensured the safety of the people involved through advanced CCVT camera systems, thus protecting the whole venue, whose area covers 1.1 million square feet space.
