Jammu and Kashmir experienced an unexpected heavy snowfall yesterday causing severe disturbance in day to day activities.

The unexpected snowfall has reportedly damaged over 50 percent fruit orchards in Bhadarwah.

The Chenab valley region has not seen light since two days as the snowfall has damaged the 132 KV Udhampur-Kishtwar power supply line and affected drinking water supply.

Heavy snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir has resulted in closure of national highway. In support of the civil administration, IAF C-17 aircraft airlifted 170 civilians from Srinagar to Jammu, on Febraury 9th.
