The editor lashed him on twitter saying

‘Dear Mr Rahul Gandhi, cheap shot at your press conference to attack me. I was asking questions not answering. You want to attack Mr Modi, go ahead but downright absurd to ridicule me

While Rahul Gandhi neither apologized nor responded, the act was condemned by several journalists and media operators.

The diplomatic affairs editor of the Hindu, Suhasini Halder tweeted

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley stood up with the editor and said “The Grandson of the ‘Emergency dictator’ displays his real DNA – attacks and intimidates an independent Editor.”

The public gave a mixed response to the series of events. A sarcastic note challenged Congress to stop protecting it’s “50 year old kid”. While another recalled Arnab Goswami’s interview with Rahul Gandhi when Jairam Ramesh and Priyanka Gandhi had to show playcards to assist his interview.
