- The revelation comes during the interrogation between ED and Christian Michel over the Agusta Westland case. Where he reveals he was lobbying the UPA to purchase Eurofighter.
Just months before the Lok Sabha Election new revelations have emerged on the Rafale Deal.
Agusta Westland middleman Christian Michel has revealed that he was lobbying the UPA govt to purchase Eurofighter over Rafale. The Eurofighter was one of the contestant of the tender along with Rafale.
The Eurofighter lost primarily due to the higher cost and lower performance. The cost of Eurofighter was around 20% more than the Rafale.
After the tender was closed the Eurofighter had offered to reduce the cost by 25% to win the tender. But the IAF rejected the offer outright on the consideration of performance.
This revelation would have a serious consequence on Congress in the upcoming UPA govt.
The congress had been accusing the NDA government over the Rafale for past 9 months. The row had stalled the parliament. Rahul Gandhi had openly challenged the Prime Minister to debate over this issue.
The Rafale debate reached the peak when Raksha Manthri Nirmala Sitharaman rubbished the allegation with facts.
The finance minister had also exposed the lies of Congress president in the house.
