Rs 100 Coin released Commemorating the Man of masses Atal Bihari Vajpayee; Here’s How It Looks

Highlights:

  • PM Narendra Modi released a new 100-rupee coin commemorating former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee
  • It is made up of silver(50 per cent), copper(40 per cent), nickel (5 per cent) and zinc (5 per cent)
  • It shall bear the Ashoka Pillar Lion Capital in the centre with ‘Satyameva Jayate’ inscribed below in the Devanagari script on the other side.
  • The coin weighing 35 grams, has the portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee with his name inscribed in the Devanagari script as well as English on one side
  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a three-time president of India. First for 13 days in 1996, then for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, and finally, for a full term from 1999 to 2004.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released a new 100-rupee coin commemorating former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a day before the Bharat Ratna’s birth anniversary. The coin weighing 35 grams, has the portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee with his name inscribed in the Devanagari script as well as English on one side. Furthermore, the bottom of the image on the coin has the birth and death year – 1924-2018 inscribed on it. 

PM Modi launched the coin in the presence of BJP party chief Amit Shah, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and senior BJP leader LK Advani at the Parliament House in New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering at the occasion, Prime Minister remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his contributions towards the development of the country.
