Dharma Or Drama? Rahul Gandhi Criticises Party Leader CP Joshi On Twitter For Casteist Remarks Against Modi, Uma Bharti

Senior Congress leader from Rajasthan, C P Joshi, has backtracked on his controversial statement about the Prime Minister Modi, Union Minister Uma Bharti and Sadhvi Ritambhara being of lower caste, reports The Hindu.

Congress had always attempted to divide the people on the lines of religion and caste.

In what appeared to be a pre-meditated turn of events, Joshi tweeted an apology for the remarks he had made at a public meeting at Sema village, Nathdwara after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi criticised his comments on Twitter saying they were against Congress party’s spirit.

He added that party leaders should not say anything to hurt any segment of society. “While respecting the Congress party’s principles and the sentiments of party workers, I am sure Joshiji will realise his mistake. He should express regret over his remarks,” Gandhi tweeted.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi criticised his comments on Twitter saying they were against Congress party’s spirit. Clearly showing a lack of integrity amongst the top leaders in the party.

In a video footage leaked few days ago, senior Congress leader can be heard as saying “Does anyone know what is the caste of Uma Bharti? What is the caste of Sadhvi Ritambhara?”

He said, “It is strange that Uma Bharti, who is of the Lodh samaj is talking about Hindu religion, Sadhviji is of some religion/caste and she is talking about Hindu religion, Narendra Modiji is of some other religion/caste and he is talking about Hindus.”

“In this country, if anyone knows about religion, it is the pandits and the brahmins,” he added. Joshi made on a public apology on Twitter following the rebuke.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi called out Joshi for insulting Hindu traditions and following the Congress agenda of causing divisions among Hindu.
