Train 18’s Trial Run On Delhi-Agra Falls Prey To Vandalism
- Miscreants throw stone at during the train’s trial run.
- Train 18 is Indian Railways’ first engineless semi-high speed train running upto 180 kmph.
- The train is supposed to replace the incumbent Shatabdi Express after it’s inauguration in Dec 2018
Miscreants had thrown stones at one of the train’s windows, causing it to break. General Manager of Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Sudhanshu Mani confirmed the act of vandalism on his tweet.

Previously, similar acts of vandalism and theft was witnessed in Tejas Express forcing the railways to withdraw some amenities from the semi-luxury train.
Train 18 is a 100% indigenously designed and built next generation model, It was manufactured by Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. It contains special features such as modular bio-vacuum toilets and cushioned luggage compartments etc. It is planned to replace the incumbent Shatabdhi Express after in a step by step process after it’s inauguration on 29 December.
The train is India’s fastest yet, travelling at speeds of up to 180 km/hour in test runs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the train for its first run on the Delhi-Varanasi route on 29 December.
