Trouble for Congress in Rajasthan only seems to be mounting ahead of the upcoming state elections, with party workers on Saturday staging massive protest outside Rahul Gandhi’s residence in the National Capital over distribution of tickets.

At a time when a meeting was going on between the party president and Sachin Pilot, Congress supporters shouted slogans against the latter for awarding the Fulera ticket to Hari Singh instead of giving it to Spardha Choudhary, who is backed by Rameshwar Lal Dudi, present Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan. The party workers have been alleging that Pilot had taken money from Hari Singh in order to get him a ticket.

In the two videos accessed by Republic, Congress supporters could be seen raising slogans and protesting against the ticket distribution decision. It was then followed by blocking Pilot’s car from leaving Rahul Gandhi’s residence.

This is the second major in-fight within the party in Rajasthan to have come out ahead of the state polls. A couple of months earlier, the fight to become the CM face in Rajasthan between Ashok Gehlot and Pilot was out in open.

Inder Mohan Singh, the leader from the Sachin Pilot camp who wrote letter to Rahul Gandhi, said the Congress workers want a young chief minister and that they want to see Sachin Pilot as the chief minister.

“Respected Ashokji has given a statement in Udaipur which has put Congress workers in a dilemma. The young Congress workers are working with gusto and want a young chief minister, they want Sachin Pilot. Sachin Pilotji has been working so hard, 24*7 for the Congress party, for the benefit of the state. Everyone wants to see him as the chief minister. No doubt about that,” said Inder Mohan Singh.

But earlier this week, the two leaders together stated that there is no difference within the party, or amongst the two of them. Speaking to media after revealing that both of them will contest the upcoming elections, Gehlot said,

“We are all united in Rajasthan and the BJP is conspiring to spread false propaganda that the Congress is divided. I will contest the upcoming assembly election and Sachin Pilot and other senior leaders will also contest.”

Pilot reiterated his comments, claiming Congress’ only agenda is to remove BJP from the power. “There is no division in the party in the state and all the leaders are united in the bid to defeat the BJP with a thumping majority,” he added.
