In Maldives elections, MDP of former President Mohammad Nasheed on road to landslide victory, wins two thirds of seats.
Maldives Democratic Party has got overwhelming majority in the parliamentary elections held on Saturday.
Preliminary results showed that incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih have won more than 60 seats in the 87 member parliament.
MDP had contested 85 of the 87 seats in Saturday’s election, where around 78 percent voters exercised their franchise.
This is the first time when a single party has won majority on its own in Parliament.
